Network Monitoring
Your IT Network is like your company's nervous system. If information cannot flow freely and securely, your company may suffer from a nervous breakdown. iGLASS can help. We monitor your:
- Routers & Switches
- Firewalls
- Security Appliances
- Load Balancers
| - UPS
- Generators
- Temperature
- Humidity
| - MPLS
- SONET Rings
- VPNs
- WAP/DAS
|
Metrics Monitored
For typical network devices, we monitor a standard set of metrics which include link status, bandwidth utilization, errors and packets. Other popular metrics include CPU utilization, memory and power supplies. On UPS equipment and Generators, we typically monitor power levels (input/output), batteries, time remaining, standby status, transfer switches and similar. Some generators can even report on fuel level, running time and more. We also monitor environmental information like temperature, humidity, water, airflow and more. Some equipment is IP-addressable directly. For devices that aren't, iGLASS can recommend several third-party vendors of contact-closure and analog input devices to make your equipment more monitoring-friendly.

Monitoring Methods
iGLASS uses a combination of standard protocols such as ICMP Ping and Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) for monitoring network equipment. For some devices, we'll utilize Call Level Interface (CLI) scripts to poll for data not readily available through a standard protocol. In still other cases, we may pull statistics off of a website or via XML monitoring.
SNMP traps and syslog are fully supported
iGLASS also fully supports processing of SNMP traps and syslog generated by monitored network equipment.
Our flexible, rules-based processing engine allows us to specify the severity of events at the moment they're received, and generate emails, pages or phone calls to your staff from our 7x24 NOC. Rules may even be time-based or count-based, so we'll only alert, for example, when X number of events or reported in Y number of minutes. The best part is that, as a managed service, the iGLASS NOC staff maintains these often complex rules so you don't have to!
